Land grabs threaten to destroy the fading dynasty
Scenario
When the huge Lawson cattle station has no heir, rival factions across Australia see a chance to take control. The series was filmed in the Northern Territory and South Australia in places so remote that they are barely inhabited, let alone shown on screen.
Although he plays a very different character here
Locations include the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, with special permission from the traditional owners, and Tipperary Station, a real-life, working cattle station so large it has its own airport and school. I was so excited when I found out this series co-starred the wonderful actor Robert Taylor, who I loved so much in the series Longmire.
Any comparisons to Yellowstone are silly
(no spoilers). I know there are devoted Yellowstone fans out there, but this series is a much better acted and written drama than the soap opera Yellowstone.
I really hope there will be a second season
Anna Torv is always fantastic, and here she is in her element in her native Australia. The younger and mostly unknown supporting actors to the two main leads are also quite good, including the Aboriginal actors, and of course the spectacular Australian outback is a co-star in its own right.
