Bailey seeks attention and adventure elsewhere

Scenario

Bailey lives with her brother Hunter and her father Bug, who is raising them alone in a squat in North Kent. Bug does not have much time for them. Barry Keoghan dropped out of Gladiator II (2024) to star in this film instead.

Editing in Fontaines DC: Bug (2024)

Bird is a 2024 coming-of-age drama that follows Bailey, a 12-year-old girl who lives in a very poor environment around Kent and spends most of her time escaping into the depths of the city and recording on her phone events that mean something to her. However, her father Bug (Barry Keoghan) expects his daughter to attend a wedding with another woman, and then after Bailey runs away, she meets a mysterious man named Bird (Franz Rogowski) who then resorts to a powerful story about friendship and family, all in poverty. Sure, it’s a very well made movie, and it doesn’t seem like it needed a lot of budget to do so with its outstanding performances from a new generation of actors.

But this movie is definitely not for everyone as its entire runtime is about exploring these types of dangerous environments and the positive aspects that surround it

I think it definitely did its job in delivering a thoughtful message with outstanding performances that really made an impact and I can respect it for that. However, my personal opinion, I really don’t like the characters and I mean yes, they are real but I literally see people like that every day and I can’t really forgive the actions that most of the people do in this movie. While some of the scenes with them are very funny, I can’t really relate or make peace with what some of the characters do in this movie, and I also hated the character of Bug, an certainly annoying but realistic portrayal of people and fathers like him.

But the acting is very good, my favorite character Bird doesn’t really have many lines, but he doesn’t need them

Also, I definitely wouldn’t encourage small children to talk and follow a random stranger, but Bird is an escape for these children and is not what you think he is. Overall, I would never watch this movie again, I don’t think it’s a movie to see on the big screen, it’s more of a movie to watch at home. Bird has some decent performances, some humour and some great scenes but I didn’t like most of the characters, even Bailey was annoying but I think that’s the point, to show that people like them are real and actually live like that so I think it’s a good message but don’t watch this in the cinema I don’t think it’s that gripping to be honest and also the running time could be adjusted as I think it goes on a bit too long but I wouldn’t recommend rushing to see this one.
